Biography
Charles Augustus Lasar was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1856. As a student, he studied under Jean Leon Gerome. Throughout the course of his studies, Lasar developed his style from impressionism and later Tonalism. Lasar exhibited at places such as The Art Institute of Chicago, the National Academy of Design, the Paris Exposition of 1889, various Paris Salons and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art. Lasar's style of painting is exemplary of both the Impressionist and Tonalist styles. Lasar died in a suburb of Paris, France in 1936.
