Biography

Stanley Roy Badmin was born in London. Studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and Royal College of Art, which he left in 1928. Badmin soon established a reputation for his detailed, affectionate depictions of the English countryside and country life. Illustrated Shell Guides, Shell posters, produced over a hundred greetings card designs for Royle's the fine art publishers, produced covers for Reader's Digest. Aged 26, he became one of the youngest ever members of RWS. Showed his work at Fine Art Society, Leicester Galleries, Arts Council and abroad. In 1985 Chris Beetles Ltd held a major retrospective to coincide with Beetles' biography S R Badmin and English Landscape.
