Biography

Orlando Greenwood was born in Nelson, Lancashire From the age of 13 worked in his uncle's cotton mill. After studying at Goldsmiths' College School of Art and Army service in World War I, in the 1920s Greenwood became notable as the mill worker- turned artist, famous for his still lives and classical set pieces. Greenwood showed widely with RBA of which he was a member, Royal Academy, Colnaghi's, Beaux Arts Gallery and abroad. Had a very successful exhibition with Spink in 1925. Studio sale was held at Christie's South Kensington in 1990.
