Biography
Mary Jackson was born in Sussex. Studied as a mature student at Southampton College of Art and part time at Winchester College of Art. Won a number of prizes, including the Thomas Agnew, Brandler and Patterson Prizes, and New English Critics' Prize in 1990. Elected a member of the New English Arts Club in 1993. Showed her work at Royal Academy, Kingfisher Gallery during the Edinburgh Festival in 1990. Later solo exhibitions include Crossgate Gallery, Kentucky in 1994. Was painter in residence at Glydebourne for the opera festival in 1991-93, completing a project with English National Opera in 1994-95. National Trust holds her work.
