John Hodgson Lobley was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire. Studied at the Royal College of Art, Slade School of Fine Art and the Royal Academy Schools winning several medals. During the latter part of the World War I was an Official War Artist. Exhibited at the Royal Academy, Goupil and Leger Galleries (had a solo in 1934) and Ridley Art Club. Imperial War Museum holds his work.
