Jeka Kemp was born in Glasgow. Studied art in Glasgow and London, Academie Julian in Paris in 1903-04. Showed for the first in Scotland from about in 1907, having solo exhibitions at Macindoe's Gallery in Glasgow in 1912-14. Several of her pictures were bought by the French Government. Further shows included Marcel Bernheim in Paris, Warneuke's Galleries in Glasgow in 1920 and Galerie de la Librairie de la Presse in Nantes in 1922. Belgrave Gallery and Wellington Fine Art in Glasgow held exhibition of her work in 1977.
