Gilbert Spencer RA 1892 - 1979

Born at Cookham, Berkshire. Brother of Stanley Spencer. Studied at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts and at Slade School of Fine Art. First one man show at Goupil Galleries in 1923. Exhibited at RA, NEAC, Leicester Galleries, Redfern Gallery and many other venues. Elected RA in 1960. Retrospective exhibition at Reading in 1964. Tate Gallery and many other public collections hold his work. (see Art UK).
