Biography
Frederick Gore was born in Richmond, Surrey, son of the artist Spencer Gore. Studied at Trinity College and Ruskin School of Drawing in Oxford in 1932-34, then at Westminster School of Art and Slade School of Fine Art in 1934-37. Held his first solo show at the Redfern Gallery in 1937, followed by a series there after the World War II. Taught at Westminster, Epsom and Chelsea Schools of Art and was head of painting department at St. Martin's School of Art in 1951-79. Elected RA in 1973 and was chairman of its exhibition committee in 1976-87. In 1979 had a retrospective at Gainsborough's House in Sudbury and Bury St.Edmunds Art Gallery with an important one at the RA in 1989.
His work is represented in many public galleries such as Southampton, Plymouth and Reading public galleries (see
