Biography

Edgar Holloway was born in Doncaster, Yorkshire. Aged 14 began attending classes at the local School of Art and in 1931 held his first solo show in Lonond. Studied under Randolph Schwabe at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he proved to be an outstanding draughtsman. Took up wood engraving and worked as a cartographer for major publishing houses. In 1969 returned to painting in watercolour and after his retirement to line engraving. Showed at RBA, Society of Artist Printmakers, NEAC and others. Abbot Hall Art Gallery and Museum showed his work as part of a touring exhibition in 1994.
