Biography
Dorrit Dekk was born in Czechoslovakia. Studied at the Kunstgewerbe Schule, Vienna in 1936-38, then Reimann School in London in 1938-39. After working as a radio intelligence officer in the Women's Royal Naval Service in World War II, Dekk began a career in graphic design. Worked for the Central Office of Information in 1946-48, was a stage designer and illustrator in Cape Town in 1949. Illustrated several books. Elected a felllow of the Society of Industrial Artists in 1956. Mixed shows included Barbican Centre, The Best of British Naive Artists in 1984, Sue Ranking Gallery in 1987 and Edith Grove Gallery in 1988. Solo shows included Clarendon Gallery in 1984-86 and Maltings Gallery in Farnham in 1985.
