Biography
Clara Klinghoffer was born in Austria. Grew up and studied in London, having her first solo show at the age of 19. Studied at the Slade School of Fine Art and Central School of Arts and Crafts. In the late 1920s married the writer J W F Stoppelman. She went on to show widely through Britain, the continent and North America. Klinghoffer was noted for her portraits, especially of children. Tate Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum and Manchester City Art Gallery are among many holding her pictures. (see
