Arthur Hayward 1889-1962

Arthur Hayward was born in Southport, Lancashire. Studied at Warrington School of Art and with Stanhope Forbes. After living in Newlyn, he settled in St.Ives, Cornwall where he started teaching in the Shore Studio. Member of St.Ives Art Club. Showed at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition from 1920-47 and Paris Salon. His pictures were acquired by public galleries in Warrington and Auckland, New Zealand. National Portrait Gallery obtained his 1933 self portrait from the Fine Art Society in 1985. @copyright David Buckman 'Artists in Britain since 1945'
