Biography

Archibald Ziegler was born in London, Ziegler studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts under Meninsky, at the Royal Academy Schools and finally at the Royal College of Art between 1927 and 1930. In 1932 he decorated the Lecture Hall at Toynbee Hall with murals. From 1938 he was Visiting Lecturer at St Martin's School of Art. He had many solo shows in London from 1932 including exhibitions at the Whitechapel Art Gallery, the Leger Gallery and the Ben Uri Gallery. He travelled very widely in Europe and America and showed regularly at the Royal Academy from 1963. A major exhibition of his work was staged in Hampstead in 1971 to mark the Hampstead Heath Centenary
