Alexander Nisbet Paterson 1862 - 1947

Brother of James Paterson and father of Viola Paterson. Born in Glasgow. In 1883-1886 studied in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts. In 1887 married the painter Maggie Hamilton. Designed a number of buildings in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Exhibited at Royal Academy, also Royal Scottish Academy. Elected RSW in 1916. His work is represented in the Glasgow Art Gallery.
