William Mervyn Glass RSA "Sgurr na h-Uamha from the South, Skye "
oil on canvas, 28" x 36" signed with initials
There is another painting on reverse 'Portrait of a Young Girl'.
On the right of this is Sgurr nan Gillean with its satellite top 'Knight's Peak' sketched behind it on the right. The distant peak to the left of Sgurr na h-Uamha (resembling a gaping whale) is Am Basteir, with The Bhasteir Tooth (the whale's lower jaw, as it were). Glass's viewpoint is a fairly high point on the southern side of Harta Corrie.
We thank Robin N Campbell Hon. Archivist, Scottish Mountaineering Club for this description.
Painting is presented in fine handfinished black and gilt frame.
