| Born in London. Studied art briefly in Paris, then from 1924 at the Royal College of Art. Held first solo show at the Lefevre Gallery in 1936. Exhibited at the RA, LG, Redfern and Goupil Galleries, Arthur Tooth and Son and NEAC. Elected RA in 1953. The Tate Gallery, provincial galleries and others in South Africa and Australian hold examples of his work. |
