Biography

Ray Evans was born in Hale, Cheshire. Studied at the Institute di Belle Arti, Florence in 1945-46, Manchester College of Art in 1946-48 and Heatherley's School of Fine Art in 1948-50 under Ian Macnab. Among various teaching posts was Southampton College of Art in 1956-66. Did commissioned work for major companies such as British Petroleum, Eagle Star, banks and government. Many solo exhibitions included Thackeray, Furneaux and Canaletto Galleries, Winchester Art Gallery and Ashbarn in Petersfield. Exhibited at the Royal Academy. National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth, Southampton Education Authority and Winchester Gallery hold his work.
