Biography
Ithel Colquhoun was born in Shillong, Assam, India. Studied at the Slade School of Fine Art in 1927-1931, where her teachers included Henry Tonks, then privately in Paris and Athens. Showed extensively including London Group, Contemporary Art Gallery, Tate Gallery and abroad. Held solo shows at Fine Art Society, Mayor Gallery and elsewhere. Michael Parkin Fine Art held a show of her early paintings and drawings in 1977, in the same year the Newlyn Orion Gallery organised show Surrealism: Ithell Colhuqoun. Bradford and Cheltenham public galleries hold examples of her work.
