Biography

Dugald Sutherland MacColl studied at London and Oxford Universities, then at the Westminster School of Art and Slade School of Fine Art under Alphonse Legros in 1884-1892. During his art days travelled widely in Europe. From 1896 member of the New English Arts Club. Exhibited extensively at the New English Arts Club, Goupil Gallery, Carfax Gallery and Fine Art Society. British Museum, Tate Gallery and Victoria & Albert Museum hold his work. MacColl was the keeper of the Tate Gallery in 1906-11 and keeper of the Wallace Collecion in 1911-24. Memorial show was held at Tate Gallery in 1950.
