Self Portrait | |
Portrait, figure and landscape painter. Brother of William Gunning King.
He lived in London, then in East Molesey in Surrey from 1916, and late in life settled in Portsmouth, quite close to Langstone Harbour. It is said by those who knew him that he visited the harbour every day, come rain or shine, and delighted in painting the boats and the waterfront. He exhibited at many institutions including ROI, Royal Society of British Painters and 29 works at the Royal Academy over a number of years. BBC Your Paintings show all 83 works represented in the Portsmouth Museum.
