Biography
Bernard Cheese was born in London. Husband of the artist Sheila Robinson, their daughter being the artist Chloe Cheese. Studied at the Royal College of Art in 1947-50, where Edwin La Dell persuaded Cheese to make lithographs. Taught printmaking at St. Martin's School of Art, Goldsmith's College and Central School of Art and Design. Was elected RE in 1988. Exhibited at Senefelder Club, Beaux Arts and St. George's Galleries, Heffer Gallery in Cambridge, John Russell Gallery in Ipswich, which gave the artist a seventy-fifth birthday show in 2000 and Royal Academy. HM The Queen, Arts Council, Victoria & Albert Museum, Fry Art Gallery and several major American collections hold examples of his work.
