Biography

Hubert Andrew Freeth was born in Birmingham. Studied at the School of Art there, then won an engraving Rome Scholarship in 1936, subsequently spending three years at the British School in Rome. During the World War II was an official war artist in the Middle East. His work is represented in the British Museum and many other public collections. Exhibited at the Royal Academy, RE, RWS and elsewhere. Elected RA in 1965. Taught at the St. Martin's School of Art and Central School of Arts and Crafts.
