David Carr was born in London. Studied at Byam Shaw School in the late 1930's, then for several years at Cedric Morris' East Anglian School of Painting and Drawing. His work was included in a show at Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1953 and in a show at Southampton City Art Gallery. Exhibited at Shaefer Gallery in New York.Retrospective exhibition took place at the Mayor Gallery in 1987. To coincide with the exhibition a monograph 'David Carr, the Discovery of an Artist'by Bryan Robertson & Ronald Alley was published by Quarted Books. In 1997 his work was shown alongside that of his friend Prunela Clough at Austin/Desmond Fine Art. |
