Biography

John Buckland Wright was born in Dunedin, New Zealand. Studied history at Oxford and architecture in London. During the 1930's Buckland Wright lived and worked in Paris, frequently visiting SWHayter's Atelier 17. Had one man shows in London and throughout the continent. Taught at Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts from 1948 and at Slade School of Fine Art from 1953. Illustrated over 50 books. His work is held in Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum and many galleries and museums in Europe and America. Retrospective exhibition held at Blond Fine Art in 1981.
