William Russell Flint was born in Edinburgh. Moved to London, studied at Heatherley's School of Fine Art and Hammersmith School of Art in 1914. Prolific exhibitor especially at Fine Art Society, RWS, RSW and RWA. Elected RA in 1933 and knighted 1947.
