Derek Hill was born in Bassett, Hampshire. First solo show at Nicholson Gallery in 1943. Had a series of shows at Leicester Galleries. Retrospective exhibition at Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1961 and Colnaghi's in 1994. His work is represented in the Tate Gallery, Arts Council, Fogg Museum in Harvard and National Gallery of Ireland
