Henry Moore was born in Castleford, Yorkshire. Studied at the Leeds School of Art from 1919, then at the Royal College of Art in 1921-24. Went to France and Italy on a travelling scholarship in 1925. Held first solo show at Warren Gallery in 1928. Retrospective exhibition at the RA in 1988.
