| Michael Ayrton was born in London. Attended Heatherley's and St.John's Wood Schools of Art. Early influences were Pavel Tchelitchew, Henry Moore and Graham Sutherland. Shared studio with John Minton in Paris in 1939. His work is represented in many public galleries, including the Tate. Retrospective exhibition held at Whitechapel Art Gallery in 1966 and Agnew 1984. |
