Biography

Jules Pascin (Julius Mordecai Pincas) was born in Bulgaria. In 1905, after attending art school in Vienna and Munich, he moved to Paris renting a studio in Montparnesse. Pascin became closely associated with artists including Modigliani, Grossman, Grosz and Emil Orlik. Began exhibiting widely with his first solo show in 1907 at the Paul Cassirer Gallery in Berlin, followed by exhibitions at the Berlin Sesession and the Armoury Show in New York. In 1914 first travelled to New York and in 1920 became American Citizen.
