Henry Lamb was born in Adelaide, Australia. Family returned to Manchester in 1886. In 1906 Lamb studied at Chelsea Art School, run by Augustus John and William Orpen. Exhibited with the AAA, Camden Town Group and NEAC, in RA from 1921. First solo show in 1922 at Alpine Gallery.He was an official War Artist from 1940 to 1945. In 1949 he was elected a member of the Royal Academy.
