Frank Emanuel was born in London. Studied at the Slade School of Fine Art under Alphonse Legros, then at the Academie Julian, Paris. From the early 1880's he began to show at the RA and Paris Salon, NEAC, ROI, RI and many other galleries. The Tate Gallery holds his work.
